It’s Valentines Day – what love are you celebrating?
Love and self commitment to live true to self?
Is passion your North Star?
– “Challenge yourself, and believe!” –
I am so excited today, it’s the best Valentine’s Day of my life. I feel like I am having a Carrie Bradshaw-esq moment. I’m not getting married to myself, I haven’t registered at Manolo Blahnik, but this Valentine’s Day I am showering myself with a magic gift of self-love – the launch of www.passionandparis.com my new website and the start of my next chapter.
It doesn’t mean I’m not grateful for the journey that Liberating Self and photographing soul beauties has taken me on. It just means that I am evolving. I’m turning my focus from seeking to liberate self, to actually living true to self.
I’m going to be focusing on passion and purpose in life, talking about how often our ability to live a true life is also dependent on the place where we live and the people that we surround ourselves with. Will you join me on this journey? I’d love it if you would.
Here’s your invitation to take a look at www.passionandparis.com , but also feel free to read on…. I’ll tell you a little bit about it.

I sometimes wish that our unique passion and purpose where a part of our DNA and easily decipherable. Surely, that would save lots of angst?
Lately, I’ve been watching X-Factor audition video. I enjoy marvelling at people like Susan Boyle and Grace VanderWaal who intrinsically know their life’s passion and purpose and simply seek the place and people that will support them to make their dreams come true. I find it extraordinary that some people (like Grace) can achieve this at the age of 12, but others (like Susan) need to journey through life until they are 48 before courage is garnered and the supportive place and people found. In both instances their commitment to their passion and purpose was unwavering. Magic.
But it’s not all magic is it. If we are passionate about something, we are happy to do the work, to practice, commit time, to master. It’s not about the fame and fortune, it’s about doing what makes us light up and experience total joy – doing daily that thing that thrills our heart.
I also believe we live true to self when we commit our time and energy to our innate soul purpose. What’s that? In my mind, it’s that thing that enables us to best use our unique skills and talents to serve others. It’s when we spend our days making a positive difference that we feel really good about, that thing that allows our soul to be at peace.
What do you think about that? Truth or fallacy?

I know, I know – I’m a romantic. I believe in true love. I have no doubt that if I really want something and commit time and positive energy then I can achieve it. I’ve just had to learn that sometimes wanting it is not enough. There are times that I have had to find the courage to make drastic changes in my environment to keep moving towards living true to self.
Some places can be toxic and stymie growth. That’s when I’ve had to lift myself up and take a leap of faith. I’ve had to trust in myself and believe that all would work out. The courage to embrace change – never easy – but sometimes needed. Courage has taken me to London, Auckland, Austin, Melbourne, Paris, Abu Dhabi, Napier and now Chalabre. My journey has been about continental shifts. For some of my friends their most nurturing place has turned out to be next door to their parents. Place is not about the distance travelled to find it, but more about the nurturing achieved once you are there. I totally believe this.
Where do you go to breathe?

It’s not just the place though is it? Your ability to live true to self is definitely affected by the people you surround yourself with. Some relationships are more interested in control than in supporting your growth. Some spouses would prefer that you commit to duty and obligation and doing what they want. Some friends just want you to stay as you were, and don’t accept the person you have evolved in to. Sometimes we need to find the courage to let go, say goodbye and move on. Not easy, but necessary.
Every time I think about living true to self my thoughts come back to these four things – passion, purpose, place and people. I think of them as my 4 P’s for Peace.
Actually, I thought about them so much I wrote an ebook titled ‘Passion and Paris – A Soul’s Prerogative’.
I’d like to share this next chapter of my journey with you – will you join me?
I’ve launched the website today, on Valentine’s Day, as a gift of self-love and commitment to living my dream life.
For now, I wish you “bonne chance” – you are worthy and deserving of living true to self.
Believe! Accept. Breathe.
